The growing trend of high meat inclusion in pet food recipes brings with it a host of issues around farm animal welfare, processing safety and sustainability. The challenge isn’t insignificant- per a recent UCLA Study, if America’s dogs and cats were their own country, their consumption of meat products alone would rank fifth in the world (PLOS ONE Journal, 2017: bit.ly/Meat_PLOSONE).
At Bond we’re developing highly sustainable, efficient and responsible methods of procuring complete proteins for companion animal feed, working with novel microbial proteins and proprietary cultured meat proteins as the foundation of our complete recipes. Our animal protein production process is unique in that it doesn’t require FBS or scaffolding, and it’s commercially scaleable.
